BRICK STITCH

Brick Stitch is a simple straight vertical stitch worked in horizontal rows. Each stitch is offset from the neighbouring stitch to create a brick pattern.
Variations include Double Brick Stitch where stitches are offset in pairs and Horizontal Brick Stitch where, as the name suggests , stitches are placed horizontally instead of vertically.

BRICK STITCH STEP BY STEP GUIDE
- To begin, come up in your canvas and move upwards, make a vertical stitch over 2 threads of the canvas.
- At the back of the canvas take your needle down and across one column along and one row down to offset it from the initial stitch and bring it up again .Make another stitch over 2 threads on the front of the canvas.
- Continue like this offsetting each stitch by one row to create a zig zag effect.
- For your second row, return the other way taking your needle down and across in the other direction, interlocking the stitches with the row above to create a brick effect.
