HOW TO FINISH OFF A PIECE OF YARN

For a clean finish to your needlepoint kit, avoid leaving loose yarn and knots at the back of the canvas.
I recommend you finish off each piece of yarn by weaving it through the back of your stitches.
Start by leaving a tail of at least 2 to 3 inches. This gives you ample length to finish off comfortably.
Turn your canvas over. Gently thread your needle back through the last few, most recent, stitches on the reverse, going against the direction you were stitching. This will firmly hold the yarn in place.

Once the yarn is firmly secured carefully trim the excess as close to the back of the stitches as possible.
Be aware, if you leave any significant tail it is likely to get caught up with future stitching and cause your yarn to knot.
